Safeguarding children and young people

This is a two-and-a-half-hour training course designed to equip and support those working with children and young people in both paid and volunteer roles. Grounded in safeguarding ethics, practice, research, and legislative frameworks, this course explores not just why safeguarding matters—but how it looks in real life. Drawing on real-world scenarios, survivor-informed insight, and trauma-informed approaches, participants will examine what effective safeguarding means in day-to-day practice. The course guides learners through the Five R’s—Recognise, Respond, Report, Record, and Review—with practical focus on recognising signs of harm, responding sensitively and safely to disclosures, and embedding inclusive safeguarding culture.

Whether working in faith, youth, education or community settings, this training helps build clarity, confidence, and compassion in safeguarding practice. It is available in context-specific versions for Northern Ireland, Scotland, and across the UK, and can be delivered online or in person.
