Safeguarding Policy Reviews
A strong safeguarding policy gives people clear direction: how to recognise concerns, respond appropriately and take responsibility for protecting others. It should reflect the organisation’s work, the people it serves and the context in which safeguarding decisions are made.
Kaizen Safeguarding provides thorough, independent policy reviews to help organisations strengthen their safeguarding arrangements. We identify what is working well, where there are gaps and what needs to change, providing clear, practical recommendations grounded in relevant legislation, statutory guidance and recognised best practice.
Bespoke to your organisation
We take time to understand your organisation’s activities, structure, culture and safeguarding responsibilities. Our review considers who you work with, how your services are delivered and the risks arising within your particular setting.
Whether you work in faith, education, charity, community, corporate or another specialist sector, we assess how effectively your policy supports the people expected to use it. Our approach is survivor-centred, trauma-informed and focused on strengthening safe practice and meaningful accountability.
What we review
The scope is agreed with you at the outset. Depending on your organisation’s needs, we assess:
Alignment with applicable legislation, statutory guidance, regulatory expectations and local safeguarding arrangements.
Clear roles and responsibilities for staff, volunteers, designated safeguarding leads and those responsible for governance.
Procedures for recognising, responding to, recording and reporting safeguarding concerns.
Referral and escalation routes, including concerns or allegations involving staff, volunteers or senior leaders.
Confidentiality, information sharing and links with related organisational policies.
Whether the language and procedures are clear, accessible and practical for your team.
You receive clear findings and recommendations, with an opportunity to discuss the changes needed and how to take them forward. Where amendments or a full rewrite are commissioned, we work with you to produce a coherent, bespoke policy ready for your organisation’s approval and implementation.
Our 12-month policy update commitment
For every safeguarding policy we rewrite, we guarantee 12 months’ access to our safeguarding policy update service following completion, at no additional cost.
During this period, we advise you of relevant changes to legislation and statutory guidance affecting the policy’s agreed scope and jurisdictions. We explain what these developments mean for your safeguarding policy and practice, and identify where action is needed.
Organisations commissioning their annual safeguarding policy review with Kaizen also receive this update service for the following 12 months, providing continuity between reviews and helping them respond to changes as they arise.
Single or multi-jurisdictional policies
We review policies for organisations working within a single jurisdiction, across the UK and Ireland, or internationally.
For organisations operating across borders, we consider the distinct legislative requirements, statutory guidance and local reporting arrangements in each agreed jurisdiction. We help you establish consistent organisational standards alongside clear procedures that reflect the responsibilities and practice context in each location.
